SEABREEZE@HOME 2020
In a year like non other, Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival quickly went online! Each stage went virtual offering unique video content and live streaming to keep the community entertained and safe!
The COVID-19 pandemic directed our pathway away from our usual live stage platforms along our glorious Nightcliff foreshore. This means that a large section of our Seabreeze community have not been able to participate in the festival this year, namely 30 local Food Stall operators, 45 Community Village stall operators and our local Brewery and Bar operators.
Our heartfelt thoughts and strength are going out to these festival participants and contributors and we hope that 2021 will see us all embedded back into our seaside environment again.
Meanwhile please enjoy the Seabreeze@Home! Explore the content of the virtual stages using the buttons to the right.
Filming for Dance Stage took place on location along Nightcliff foreshore, on the beach, the jetty, inside the CDU Theatre, inside the Dreamedia Warehouse which was cleverly turned into a fabulous film set for Seabreeze@Home.
Filming for Music Stage took place inside the Dreamedia Warehouse over a number of weeks set up with various looks to suit the diversity of Seabreeze musicians. Diversifying the stage set for the solo acts to create a more intimate feel and then opening it up for the bands was a fun and efficient way to differentiate between the act styles.
Filming for Variety Stage took place on location alongside Rapid Creek, along Nightcliff foreshore and inside the Dreamedia Warehouse which was opened up even more for these acts once we had finished filming all the music acts.
Due to the limited timeframe, personnel capacity, and the strict Covid19 regulations our entire community was adhering to, only the 'DIY Sustainable Cooking and Craft Workshops' were professionally filmed by the Seabreeze 2020 team. Presentations from local professors, doctors and experts in their field were filmed at their own place of work or home and sent their footage in to be uploaded and shared via our festival online and social media options.
Due to the limited timeframe, personnel capacity, and the strict Covid19 regulations everyone was adhering to, most of the organisations, businesses, clubs and groups that would usually share and showcase on the foreshore were closed and in their own isolation situations. Those that had the capacity, filmed their own
short films and messages to share via our festival online and social media options.
USB HARD DRIVES & A SURPRISE OUTCOME
Our participating Branching Out facilities will also be supplied with USB hard drives to carry the online footage so that it can be accessed without the need of wifi or internet connection if necessary.
A brilliant outcome from this years decision to film acts and make sure we have hard drives available for participating facilities, is that a dramatic increase in regional and remote reach will unfold. When talking with Clinical Nurse Manager, Selina Signal at Top End Renal Services, she explained that with an internal sharing facility, the external hard drive footage of our local artists and presenters, will be able to reach the screens, patients and families of many more renal units throughout the NT, allowing more of our community members delight in and be inspired by Branching Out 2020 acts, alongside the usual health messages on the big screen in their waiting rooms.
