BRANCHING OUT

2020

Energised by Jacana Energy

Jacana Energy have been supporting Seabreeze to branch out to members of our community impacted by health, mobility and socio-economic factors, extending our local arts and cultural activities into the community since 2018.

'Branching Out' began in 2017, supported by Festivals Australia.  Below are some photos, sharing what we all get up to during the weeks that follow our big event along the stunning Nightcliff Foreshore.

COVID 19 CHANGES & NEW ELEMENTS FOR BRANCHING OUT 2020

Due to Covid 19 and new health and safety regulations to keep our community safe, our 2020 Branching Out Program has new elements to it.  Seabreeze is in close communication with our participating facilities with regard to aligning live solo/duo artist visits to happen later in the year, if physical distancing regulations and imperative patient/resident health schedules allow.  In the meantime, Branching Out 2020 artists and presenters have been filmed, edited, audio mastered and can be enjoyed on screen here (click on titles to view footage):

ONLINE

Our Seabreeze@Home 2020 version of Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival has been uploaded to our website and newly created YouTube Channel so that both the usual live visiting artists to these facilities alongside the rest of our first helping of Seabreeze@Home presenters, contributors, artists, performers and original music is accessible online via the big screen in the community lounge and waiting rooms for the patients and residents of our participating facilities.  There are 5 Elements to enjoy from 2020 Seabreeze@Home stages and spaces:

DANCE STAGE

Filming for Dance Stage took place on location along Nightcliff foreshore, on the beach, the jetty, inside the CDU Theatre, inside the Dreamedia Warehouse which was cleverly turned into a fabulous film set for Seabreeze@Home.

MUSIC STAGE

Filming for Music Stage took place inside the Dreamedia Warehouse over a number of weeks set up with various looks to suit the diversity of Seabreeze musicians.  Diversifying the stage set for the solo acts to create a more intimate feel and then opening it up for the bands was a fun and efficient way to differentiate between the act styles.

VARIETY STAGE

Filming for Variety Stage took place on location alongside Rapid Creek, along Nightcliff foreshore and inside the Dreamedia Warehouse which was opened up even more for these acts once we had finished filming all the music acts.

RIPPLE EFFECT

Due to the limited timeframe, personnel capacity, and the strict Covid19 regulations our entire community was adhering to, only the 'DIY Sustainable Cooking and Craft Workshops' were professionally filmed by the Seabreeze 2020 team.  Presentations from local professors, doctors and experts in their field were filmed at their own place of work or home and sent their footage in to be uploaded and shared via our festival online and social media options.

COMMUNITY VILLAGE

Due to the limited timeframe, personnel capacity, and the strict Covid19 regulations everyone was adhering to, most of the organisations, businesses, clubs and groups that would usually share and showcase on the foreshore were closed and in their own isolation situations.  Those that had the capacity, filmed their own

short films and messages to share via our festival online and social media options.

USB HARD DRIVES & A SURPRISE OUTCOME

Our participating Branching Out facilities will also be supplied with USB hard drives to carry the online footage so that it can be accessed without the need of wifi or internet connection if necessary.

A brilliant outcome from this years decision to film acts and make sure we have hard drives available for participating facilities, is that a dramatic increase in regional and remote reach will unfold.  When talking with Clinical Nurse Manager, Selina Signal at Top End Renal Services, she explained that with an internal sharing facility, the external hard drive footage of our local artists and presenters, will be able to reach the screens, patients and families of many more renal units throughout the NT, allowing more of our community members delight in and be inspired by Branching Out 2020 acts, alongside the usual health messages on the big screen in their waiting rooms.

STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES

"It will be wonderful to be able to include positive and joyful footage from local artists that our patients will recognise, interspersed amongst our serious and important health messaging on our waiting room screens." Selina Signal, Clinical Nurse Manager, Top End Renal Unit

"Wellbeing" is the state of being comfortable, healthy and happy.

"It’s an excellent initiative that means Juninga has access to different artists during the festival period to come and entertain, engage and share with the residents." Lyn Duckworth, Lifestyle Coordinator, Juninga Centre
