2017 NIGHTCLIFF SEABREEZE FESTIVAL
Now in its 13th year, the Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival kicked off again in 2017!
Saturday May 6th was the ‘Big Day’! Celebrating our local talent, as well as our rich and diverse community, the festival is a creative, interactive and family friendly event for everyone. Set along the stunning Nightcliff Foreshore, there was plenty to see and do, including regular favourites such as the CDU Music Stage, Darwin City Council Dance Stage, Sand Sculpture Competition, and the Nightcliff Community Bank Art Space Awards. With over 1000 performers in over 100 performances on one ‘Big Day’, there was no better way to celebrate the start of the dry season!
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
This years’ festival has a strong environmental flavour we are in our third year towards becoming a seriously and deeply environmentally sustainable festival.
The 'Ripple Effect' was originally made possible in 2017 through a City of Darwin Climate Change & Environment Grant and is heading into it's third year! Originally powered by Class A Energy, Solar Solutions and in 2018 & 2019 powered by Darwin Solar Cinema, featuring local, national and international experts, as they shed their light on and address the important environmental & pressing concerns of the community.
We are continuing to encourage everyone to ‘bring your things’ (BYT) (plates/bowls/cups/utensils) as we continue to move to eliminate single use plastic, with 'Hydration Stations' provided throughout the festival & compostable plates/bowls/cups/utensils also supplied by our supportive Food/Drink Stalls.
Our food and drink vendors support this initiative by providing compostable packaging, whilst also supporting our healthy living no soft drink initiative.
